Wilkinson will travel from Canberra with ruckman Neil Irwin who committed last month.
He has previously played as a midfielder/forward with Leeton-Whitton and Tuggeranong.
Demon recruiting manager Ian Pertzel said Wilkinson would add some experience to the side.
“He’s played some good footy and will give us more run and a bit of class up forward,” Pertzel said.
“We’re still talking to a few players as well so hopefully we will line-up alright.”
Lockhart has endured a mixed bag over the off-season with Zac Sheather, Jordan Harrington and Jamie Clough departing and Jesse Margosis returning from Marrar.
The Demons play Murray Magpies in round one at Lockhart.
