An estimated 450 individuals attended the DOI State Water NSW meeting in Jerilderie, with a further 350 recorded apologies.
It seems a three-year silence by DOI State Water got people, affected by their possible decisions, really fired up.
Narrandera Shire’s Deputy Mayor David Fahey attended the Jerilderie meeting and with prior approval invited DOI State Water to give a presentation to Narrandera Shire Councillors regarding Yanco Creek proposals and other projects concerning the “off-take” which may impact on Shire residents. Morundah, Wanganella and Moulamein also wish to host meetings, possibly in February-March 2019.
Meantime, Alliance members will be working hard to shore-up support for their concerns and the DOI State Water body will be doing some assessing themselves.

LAKE Talbot was a “lifesaver” for MIA farmers in the 40-degree heat recently. The lake was drained and the water used to provide water for MIA farmers. The reason? Predicted rain didn’t arrive and there is a seven-day time lag on ordered water.

CAROLS by Candlelight hosted by Narrandera Lions Club in Marie Bashir Park on Sunday evening December 16 was, as usual, a great success. Commented on was the percentage of younger people attending. Some, of course, had children participating in the event but it’s an encouraging sign that Christmas lives on through the younger generations of the community.
The program was filled with traditional carols, special items and individual performances which motivated everyone to get in the zone for the coming of Christmas. The Lions Club’s barbecue fare and drinks sated the hungry and provided the Lions with revenue for recycling to community organisations.
