AFL Riverina has put a proposal to clubs and asked for feedback on whether they are prepared to invest in having all games filmed in 2019.

The subject of games being filmed was a hot topic this season after one game across both competitions per round was filmed by AFL Riverina.

AFL Riverina football operations manager Shane Buchanan believes the idea is worth exploring.

“In a perfect world, if we could get all games filmed that would be fantastic and ideal,” Buchanan said.

“Ultimately it comes back to cost and whether clubs are prepared to pay for it. The other thing to be considered is having the resources to film all games.”

AFL Riverina have been in talks with online sports broadcaster Sportscast Australia about filming games in the future.

They have put a proposal to AFL Riverina, that has been forwarded to clubs for consideration.

Clubs have been asked whether they want to use Sportscast Australia, and if so, to rank three investment options.

One game per round in both competitions is set to cost clubs about $1125 a season, while each and every game would come at a cost of about $4050.

The footage would be available to clubs 15 minutes after the game and can be used for coaching purposes. It could also be used for promotional materials, as well as assisting tribunals, match review panels and citations.

Clubs have until Monday December 17 to provide their feedback to AFL Riverina.

In Group Nine rugby league, it is mandatory for all clubs to have their home games filmed throughout the season.
