The Thommos Express Charity Rodeo provides an ideal opportunity for the Gill family of The Rock to showcase their rodeo stock.
Jarrad Gill of JP Gill and Son said he was looking forward to the event and to providing good entertainment for a local crowd.
Mr Gill is the son of John “Happy” Gill and the late Margaret Gill. Mrs Gill was known for her willingness to encourage young children to enjoy rodeos. She often put Shetland Pony Barrel Races on the program or best dressed young cowboy and cowgirl competitions.
Jarrad said there would be an opportunity for children attending the event at The Rock to go in the best-dressed competition.

And the local barrel race was also a chance for people in close proximity to bring their horses along and enjoy the atmosphere of a rodeo.
“There will be some accomplished competitors here too, and the bull ride will be good to watch,” Jarrad said.
Aside from showcasing the rodeo action for crowds Jarrad said the event had a big focus on giving back.
He said the aim was to raise funds for Country Hope the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service.
Rodeo action starts at 3pm and the event is affiliated with the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA).
It will be the second year in a row The Rock has hosted a rodeo, however, the event has moved venues to the showground this year.
