HENTY’S Main Street celebration went off flawlessly due to the hard work of the Community Bank and HCDC members. The road closure and street stalls, made for a festive atmosphere.
The Rail Station ribbon cutting was well attended and trains were delayed ensuring proceedings were uninterrupted.
The “opening” of the renovated station was more than a face-lift, with additional work undertaken following considerable termite damage.
Next followed a significant event for Henty; the official opening of the new fire station. Attended by Sussan Ley MP, Greg Aplin MP, NSW Fire and Rescue Commissioner, Paul Baxter and MC Stewart Alexander, Zone Commander. Commissioner Baxter presented a number of certificates and service badges.
Celebrations moved back to the main street to recognise the 20th anniversary of the Henty Community Bank. Several staff and board members were honoured for their service.
A drone captured the gathering crowd. A large light screen presented the history in pictures of the bank’s impact on the Henty community. Some have asked “what about a 21st?”
Jumping castle, slide, ride and a mechanical bull kept kids of all ages entertained – let’s hope they all slept well that night.
The fireworks only went for seven minutes, but seemed like half an hour. Both spectacular and deafening; it was great entertainment.
Wobbly Boot provided the late-night entertainment. There were a few that braved the “hot mix” dance floor. Apparently, the internet was alive with “Henty”.
