Mrs Smith and Louise Scott have been working hard to prepare for an upcoming event they have titled Hatz and High Tea.
The event, set to showcase more than 100 hats and headwear, will be held on November 17 at The Rock Hall. The aim of the event is to draw people to the town for an entertaining afternoon from 2pm.
And to accompany the theme of the hats organisers are preparing a high tea.
Ribbon sandwiches, scones and petite slices will be just some of the tasty treats on offer.
Mrs Scott explained the event, which could attract 100 or so people, will play an important role in generating funds for the upkeep of The Rock Hall.
Last year a vintage fashion parade was held and the event drew in 134 people on what turned out to be a rainy afternoon in the Riverina.
Mrs Smith and Mrs Scott are hoping for a repeat at the hat parade.
Seven people from southern NSW will help to model the hats and some of the creations have a history that dates back to the 1940s.
“This hat has a lot of feathers,” Mrs Smith said.
Some of the hats have been drawn from Mulwala in the south and Woolongong to the east.
Every hat has a story, and some were made locally.
Wagga milliner Margaret Westblade will be at the event to demonstrate how to make a fascinator.
Rebecca Hillis, also of Wagga, will be on hand with some of her creations.
