The Murray Group of CWA of NSW held their Annual Conference at North Albury on Tuesday, October 9 with about 50 members and guests in attendance.

The conference was chaired by the Murray Group President, Mrs Genevieve Knobel. Special guest Mrs Beryl Brain, Narrandera Branch, Riverina Group, past State Vice-President, was the guest speaker on the day and opened the Conference. Mrs Brain focused her speech on the importance of education and how it is ongoing for everyone in our daily lives, and also a very important part of being a member of CWA. We are constantly learning.
Invited guests and representatives of neighbouring Groups spoke words of welcome and encouragement and their support of Murray Group CWA.
Annual reports and trophies were presented as the culmination of a busy year of work by the nine branches.
- The Schultz Trophy for greatest increase in membership went to Oaklands.
- The Eleanor Hulme Trophy for best average attendance went to Gerogery.
- The Zweck Trophy for most active in International went to Little Billabong.
- The Lister Trophy for best International report went to Holbrook.
- The “Crow for Publicity” trophy went to Oaklands.
- The Rita Ross Trophy for most active branch went to Oaklands Branch.
- The Margaret Jelbart Trophy for floral arrangement, Gerogery.
Preparations are well under way for the 2019 State Conference being hosted by Murray Group in Albury in May next year.
