ANOTHER event remembering soldiers of the First World War, will be a Dedication of Monumental Cairn and book launch A Dead Man’s Penny - A Tribute to Cookardinia’s WWI enlisted men by Cheryl Crighton will occur at the Cookardinia Memorial Hall Sunday, November 11 from 10am to 3pm. There will be a display of memorabilia. Lunch provided by Little Billabong CWA.

THE Henty Men’s Shed members enjoyed a presentation of Henty’s past by member Les Dale; capably assisted by daughter, Narelle. Les recalled his early days in and around Henty, his business growth and many of Henty’s major developments and incidents.

DON’T forget this weekend’s Henty Community Garage Sale with 36 sites booked as at Monday. Egg and bacon rolls, which were missed last time, are again available at the Lutheran Church. As you can see, Henty’s main street resealing is under way. There is plenty of parking on side streets.

PRESBYTERIANS had a guest speaker on Sunday. Rev David Burke, who had spent a number of years previously in Henty (1979-82). He is involved in bible study with the combined congregations of Henty and Lockhart furthering and spreading the Christian faith. He is off to a refugee camp in western Ethiopia with 450,000 refugees. David is expected to be there for about a month.
