ANOTHER “unveiling” for Henty is the official opening of the Henty Fire Station. This will occur during the November celebrations when Henty’s Main Street will be temporarily closed off. NSW Fire & Rescue NSW is one of the world’s largest urban fire and rescue services and is the busiest in Australia.

TUESDAY fortnight ago saw seven members of the Henty Men’s Shed travelling to Coolamon to visit members of the Coolamon Men’s Shed. They arrived in time for morning tea and stayed for lunch following a tour of their facilities. One of their members was in the process of finishing the repainting of a restored hand-pushed firefighting cart destined to go to the Coolamon Fire Station museum. Following the interclub visit our Henty members visited the aforesaid museum. Henty member Russell Davies donated a number of items from his own collection.
The group toured a new housing development in the town where 37 housing are being built. A tour of the Cheese Factory in the main street, resulting in a number of purchases and then on to the Up-to-Date Store to marvel at the only working Lamson Cash Railway, which is the only known Ball-Style Cash Railway System in the world that is still in its original location. Behind the store is the scale model farm equipment created by Reg Godde from recycled material or new and all are in working order.
