Maksymow, who was one of the best players on the ground in the first-half, failed to reappear after the half-time break on Saturday.
Coach Joel Price admitted Maksymow's shock departure was a distraction but refused to blame it for the 33-point loss.
"It was pretty difficult for the side," Price said.
"A lot of questions were getting asked.
"It was a distraction but full credit to Brock-Burrum."
Brocklesby-Burrumbuttock led at every change with John-Roy Williams turning in a best on ground performance on a wing.
Ruckman Matt Seiter and Aidan Johnson were also outstanding.
