Yes they do sell legs of lamb, sausages and all of the cuts associated with a butcher shop but it is the community connection that shines through.

Tim Driscoll, the son of Bob Driscoll who was known for running the butchery for several years, has taken over the reins of running the business.

He takes on the role from one of The Rock’s favourite faces, Shane Nimmo. Mr Nimmo was always good for a tip on the horses, dogs, or even the footy. And if you want to know what’s going on in The Rock, Yerong Creek, or at the sporting clubs in the region you can always ask someone at the butcher’s shop. Mr Driscoll worked at GrainCorp in Wagga before taking a role at the butchers shop and he initially completed his apprenticeship with John Yates and then finished up the qualifications with his dad.  

Working as a butcher is something that has allowed Mr Driscoll to travel too. Despite the fact he calls The Rock home the profession has allowed him to work throughout Queensland too.

“We are always busy and there is always someone calling in and we like to interact with our customers in a friendly way with a good sense of humour,” Mr Driscoll said. Supplying meat to the footy and sporting groups in the region is a priority too.

“We like to help out in the community and support fundraisers.” Mr Driscoll said the high saleyard prices for lamb had affected costs but people were still keen to eat lamb.
