Instead the mentor, finally able to celebrate a second win this AFL season on Saturday, took the chance to laud the young men he sees as the future of the club.
The Blues rallied behind Cripps' mastery at Metricon Stadium, turning over a Suns side that had beaten Sydney just seven days earlier.
The midfielder had 38 touches and 11 marks to go with a goal and five clearances in the 35-point win but the coach saw plenty of other positives too.
"What I saw and I think most saw were glimpses of our future on display and some strong leaders," he said.
"The forward line is incredibly young other than Matthew Wright ... for the first time we saw Jack (Silvagni), Harry (McKay) and Charlie (Curnow) together.
(Cameron) Polson ... he's all about pressure ... there was glimpses there."
He also praised the powerful efforts of the returning Ciaran Byrne and Paddy Dow while Sam Petrevski-Seton's hard ball gets helped turn the tide in the first half.
"Contested possession was all in their favour in the first quarter and that changed," he said.
"We've still got growth but I just want to highlight the glimpses of the young talent."
The side will remain on the Gold Coast for a few days for a pre-arranged recovery and bonding exercise, with Bolton hopeful Jacob Weitering's final-quarter injury is no more than a badly-corked leg.
