Girl Over the Edge is a memoir of this academic and mother of three teenager’s journey with mental illness.
She captures the essence of dealing with the health system, both public and private, and explores demystifies the stigma and shame that unfortunately accompanies this battle.
Mrs Hodges will be in the eastern Riverina on Wednesday, July 25. The visit will feature a visit to the Henty library at 10.30am and Holbrook at 2.30pm where she will share insights into Girl Over the Edge. “This is a memoir about my life and the experiences I had,” she said. Her aim is to generate empathy around mental illness and to highlight the fact rural and regional areas are, in many cases, missing out on much-needed services. “Small towns are a passion of mine and they are lacking in professions and psychiatrists … farmers and men in these areas can be at risk of mental illness.”
