Our treasurer reported on a very successful Bunnings barbecue.
We would like to thank Donna, Tim and Issie McRae for helping to man the barbecue, and also thanks to others who offered help.
Margaret Hasler, Lyn Lieschke and Lyn Jacobsen attended the Group Cultural Day at Wagga and performed a TV ad skit which won first place in that section.
Marie Solyk and Lyn Jacobsen attended Murray Group’s International Day, which was most informative and enjoyable, bringing back lots of memories for Marie.
We are changing our meeting days to Thursdays for the next couple of months.
Lyn Jacobsen was chosen as one of the cooks on the Daily Advertiser Online “Cooking with Nana” show, so she chose to demonstrate making a date loaf.
Our yearly six months of cooking goodies for the Hilltop Carer’s Accommodation clients is now finished until next January, and president Lyn thanked all members for their contributions during that time.
Lyn read an old poem, written at the time the Rand-Henty Railway Line commenced in the 1920s as many names are still in the districts.
Land Cookery was a chocolate sponge with equal firsts, Margaret Hasler and Lyn Jacobsen. Gluten-free chocolate fingers was won by Lyn Jacobsen, with Margaret Hasler second.
Next month, the competition is date loaf and six Honey Jumbles, three with white icing and three made with pink.
The recipes are in the June 2018 Journal and must be used in both items.
Next meeting Thursday, July 12 at the Commercial Club, Albury, starting at 10.30am.
