The Howlong community and the town’s golf resort have smashed their $20,000 fundraising target for a local mum by $8697.
The day on June 22, dedicated to Regan Lions, was a sell-out weeks in advance with 120 people taking to the course.
The team of Robert Hill, Gary Fitzgibbons, Mark Gregory and Allen Pendlebury took out the top prize with 45 points.
Mrs Lions was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and found out later that month the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.
She is undertaking chemotherapy for the next six months.
“Without it, I don’t know where we’d be … we’d be here and fighting, but they’ve just made it so much easier,” Mrs Lions said of the fundraiser.
Howlong Golf Resort manager general manager Chris Rebbechi thanked the community for their support.
