Mr Rodham of “Cranbrook,” Uranquinty had a pen of second cross Poll Dorset lambs offered under the guidance of RH Blake and Co but the sale had kicked earlier on and extra-heavy lambs had already made a high of $240.
He wasn’t sure if his lambs could beat that value. But they did. RH Blake and co were last in the draw and the lambs went under the hammer for a whopping $247.20.
It was a result Mr Rodham was extremely pleased with. It was also a good outcome for livestock agent and auctioneer Mark Logan of RH Blake who sold the stop pen.
Mr Rodham is no stranger when it comes to topping the market and he has presented the best lambs in the market on several occasions.
“It’s a great result,” he said at Thursday’s market.
Meanwhile, prices tended to shift gears across other categories too. After a couple of weeks of plateauing out trade lamb prices increased by up to $10 in places.
In all vendors sold a total of 33,940 at the Wagga market on Thursday. Of that offering 25,420 were lambs.
