Visitors to easternriverinachronicle.com.au on Wednesday will find an engaging new homepage featuring an expanded range of content as the Chronicle introduces a local news subscription for digital access.
As announced in April, the new subscription offering includes full online access to the local news, sport and opinion published, as well as essential community information and the latest national news and sport, plus lifestyle, health and travel advice.
Subscribers will also have access to a digital replica of the print editions, so they can read every page of the printed newspaper on their tablet or desktop. There’s also the option to receive regular news updates by email.
Subscribers can sign up to pay monthly and get the first 30 days free. Or they can pay for an annual subscription, get 20 per cent off plus the first month free.
In a message to audiences and advertisers, editor Ross Tyson said the local news subscription allowed audiences to choose how they wanted to support the local coverage.
“As our audience increasingly reads our local journalism on their smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops, we need to make sure we can continue to deliver the coverage our community expects and deserves,” he said.
“By subscribing for full online access, you will be supporting the Chronicle to continue its mission to deliver the local journalism that keeps our community informed, entertained and connected.”
Some content at easternriverinachronicle.com.au will remain open to all website visitors, including classified advertisements, such as birth and funeral notices, and recommended articles featuring local businesses.
Visitors can also sign up to have a free newsletter emailed regularly, making it easier to browse the latest headlines and see what’s making news.
The changes do not affect the printed newspaper, which is published Wednesday.
