St Paul’s student Tom Janetzki participated in the Riverina Schools Orienteering Day held in Wagga recently. He was the only participant in his age-class, but his time compared favourably with those who did the same course in other age classes. He had the sixth fastest time of the 14 participants on that course, and faster than most secondary school students.
Kevin Fogarty, the volunteer consumer advocate for the Albury-Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre in Henty, handed over a further $1000 to the trust fund recently. The money came largely from Edna Wilson’s Mother’s Day raffle, with the balance made up of money from 5c coin collections in local stores and donations from the public. The Henty community has contributed many thousands of dollars to this cause.
Greater Hume Council’s Community Health and Wellbeing Alliance workshop was held at the Henty Community Club on Tuesday, May 22.
The two-hour session featured guests including Bree Cross, sport and wellbeing project headspace Albury-Wodonga; Ross Still, neuro orientation and mobility specialist Guide Dogs NSW/ACT; Tony Breedon, community transport manager, Kalianna, with an update on community transport in Greater Hume; and Mary Hoodless with an update on the implementation of the Greater Hume Council disability inclusion action plan. The next meeting is in Holbrook on October 24.
