Hosts John and Dawn Beechworth welcomed a large crowd for the Probus meeting, organised by Karen Kotzur with help from the CWA. Guest speaker Marie Elliot spoke on animals of World War I.
Sandy the War Horse was the only such animal to return from the war and Horrie the War Dog also “accidentally” came back from war to Cudgewa, was part of a long story of his journey.
Marie came from Wodonga Historical Society.
Throughout the museum were hidden lots of artefacts covering life over the last 100 years.
One room was full of WWI memorabilia such as clothing, books, posters, hats, badges, flags and stories.
After wandering around the museum and viewing the many archival exhibits, members proceeded to the Walla Walla Lutheran Church to hear Herb Simpfendorfer speak about facts and figures of the church.
He answered many questions about the organ and the old building featuring beautiful stained glass windows.
A quiche and sandwich luncheon was served by the CWA. Probus is for retired professional and business persons.
