The tower which is a distinct landmark in the town is set to be adorned by a ‘water themed’ artwork.
Lockhart Shire Council tourism and economic development officer Jennifer Connor said submissions open on March, 5 and close on April, 13.
Once closed, a committee, consisting of Lockhart community members, Lockhart Shire Council, Riverina Water County Council and an industry expert, will review all submissions and shortlist up to three artists.
“The shortlisted artists will be paid a design fee of $500 to submit a full proposal to the Committee by 18 May,” she said.
The proposal will describe the work of art and confirm the time frame and budget for its execution and installation.
Mrs Connor said a development application based on the final design will be made, and will include a public exhibition period for feedback from the community.
At this stage, the successful artist will be required to enter into a contract with Lockhart Shire Council for the project.
