The young all-rounder led from the front with one of the association’s most impressive performances with bat and ball.
Mackinlay completed a rare double hatrick (four wickets in four successive balls) in his outstanding figures of 6/23 against Culcairn at Culcairn.
He then backed up his outstanding work with the ball by top scoring with (67 no) as Holbrook won by seven wickets to end the Lions season.
Mackinlay came on in the twelfth over and immediately had an impact getting Jamie Cooper, Steve Brand, Vince Chaffey and Laine Heinjus out in four balls.
He finished with career best figures of 6/23 and became just the fifth player in Holbrook DCA history to take a double hatrick.
“I got a bit lucky,” Mackinlay, 19, said.
“For some reason I swung the ball a bit which doesn’t usually happen.”
Culcairn were saved by an excellent partnership between Rory Jenkins (47) and Eddie Turner (41) as they finished on 7/137.
Cooper Walsh who bowled without luck, provided wonderful support to Mackinlay by taking 1/11 off eight overs.
In reply Holbrook lost two early wickets before a superb third wicket stand of 107 between Mackinlay (67 no) and Hayden Wishart (48) steadied the ship.
Holbrook finished its innings on 3/148 and in doing so jumped into second place on the ladder and securing a finals position.
Lions veteran seamer Dai Jenkins was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 2/28 as the home side went down narrowly for the third straight match.
