The loss for Culcairn has put some pressure on their claims for a finals’ spot and like Henty have a bye to come which is worth no points.
TRYC won the toss and batted on a fast outfield and good batting deck and posted 6/170 off its 40 overs.
Skipper Todd Hannam was the standout making 58, with good support from Danny Brown (34), Adam Preston (17) and Ben Willis (13).
Brendan Sheather was the pick of the Lions’ attack claiming 3/28, while all-rounder Norman Barlow took 2/28.
Culcairn made a good start to the run chase and at 1/49 were well on track to pass the homeside before they lost 4/30 in quick time.
The big turning point came when Stephen Brand was run out with out scoring by a smart bit of work from Hannam after a mix up with Sheather.
Again it was the Lions’ best two bowlers who also performed with the bat.
Sheather (26) and Barlow (36) were the main stays of the innings.
Nick Godde (26) did some nice work in the late order along with Rory Jenkins (13) to see Culcairn finish at 9/161 and nine runs short.
Paceman Mick Driscoll was super impressive again taking 2/15 off his eight overs, he got great support from Ryan Kirkwood 3/23 and Hannam 3/20.
Ben Willis did a great cameo bowling stint at the end bowling four overs for just four runs to play a huge part in restricting the Lions.

Yerong Creek play again at home against Holbrook this week, while Culcairn are at home to Henty in a huge match for both sides finals prospects.
Division Two is also heating up with Lockhart well ahead of second placed Holbrook.
Osborne in third and Culcairn fourth look likely to hold their places in the top four.
