With Peter Forck losing to Bernie Mahlo 19-12 and Glen Harrison edging out David Barnes 20-19, Kern’s rink proved the saviour in a tight 61-52 victory.
Kern brought down Darryl Coventry 29-14 to keep Henty in touch with competition pacesetters North Albury and Howlong.
Ladder leader North Albury edged out Culcairn 64-62.
Although the Lions won two of the three rinks, it wasn’t enough to stop North Albury due to Stephen Broad’s 29-17 win over Jim Lee.
Howlong defeated Lavington 71-49.
Phil Slater took the points against Adrian Pantling 21-14, Ian Doolan defeated Vic Moore 27-24 and Wally Bourne upstaged Darren Moore 23-11.
LOCKHART
BUSINESS House Bowls continued last Thursday evening with round two.
At the end of round two NSW Fire Brigade are leading on 37 points closely followed by Farmers, Specials & Shearers - all on 36 points.
It continues with round three next Thursday, January 25.
On Saturday morning Lockhart played in the Shire Shield against Yerong Creek and The Rock.
Unfortunately The Rock were too good winning the shield again.
Lockhart will be hosting this in July.
The draw for the Club Singles with be made next Sunday with the first round to be played by the middle of February.

SATURDAY, January 13 the Wagga & DBA held their annual President’s Day and Season Opening at Lockhart Bowling Club.
A total of 48 bowlers took to the green and played two games of 10 ends.
The winners on the day were the boys from Ganmain with 2 wins + 20 followed by the official team from Wagga DBA with two wins + 7.
After the games a barbecue high-tea was served and enjoyed by all players and spectators.
District president Peter Green thanked Lockhart president Barry Love for the hospitality and also thanked the all the volunteers as well as the bar staff for making the day a success.
Pennants begin Saturday, February 3.
