Two arrested after Riverina Facebook dog fight turns real

A Facebook argument over a barking dog has allegedly led to a home invasion and the assault of a 71-year-old man near Albury.

Police said the online debate about responsible dog ownership took place on Tuesday afternoon.

It is understood the argument included issues of a dog barking and a failure to clean up after it.

The 71-year-old man was in bed at his home in Howlong about 10.40pm when a noise woke him and he went to investigate.

Police allege the man was assaulted inside his home.

On Wednesday, police stopped a car in Howlong and arrested a 27-year-old man.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested at a home in the town.

The man was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent - inflicting actual bodily harm, resisting arrest and aggravated detain for advantage.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Albury Local Court on Thursday.

The woman was charged with intimidation and granted bail.

She will appear at Albury Local Court on Tuesday.
