This property, in the Lockhart Shire, set the tone for the launch of Taste Riverina and it was an ideal opportunity to celebrate all that the region has to offer.
The quality produce, fine food, wine, and cider was discussed as well as picturesque tourist destinations and the colourful rural atmosphere.
Taste Riverina will take in a large region of southern NSW, not just the Lockhart Shire, yet it was heartening to see this area so well promoted.
Those who live there understand the lengths that have been taken to beautify the main street of The Rock.
Setting inviting backdrop for tourists, and something locals can be proud of is something Lockhart Shire Council has nailed.
Another upcoming event which marries well with the concept of Taste Riverina is the Henty Machinery Field Days.
This event, in the Greater Hume Shire, and just down the road from The Rock is set to attract about 60,000 people over three days.
In addition to exhibiting the latest in rural technology it is an event which allows local groups to volunteer and do valuable work for the community.
It is also an ideal occasion to showcase all that southern NSW and the Riverina has to offer.
Some recent rain has helped to boost the crop trials at the sites and organisers indicate that all is looking well for a good 2017 event.
So to quote Adrian Piccoli “visiting the your local area offers opportunities,” and it could just be a case of having one of the best “backyards” in Australia.
