But she also has a fire in her spirit that allows her to make her mark in the world of fundraising.
Later this year Mrs Wilson will celebrate her 96th birthday and the Henty woman is as keen as ever to continue giving back. She often has several projects on the go at once and her aim is to raise money to fight cancer.
It is a disease that she says “touches almost all of us in some way.”
Twenty six years ago Mrs Wilson lost her husband Ernie to cancer and it has been her legacy to carry out as much work to raise awareness of the disease and provide assistance to the various support groups.
These days she calls the Myoora Homestead Hostel at Henty home. “We have great support here and the friends and family help to make all of this possible,” she said.
Her current project is the raffle of a Mother’s Day hamper which features a diverse range of goodies and has already attracted support from those within the hostel and the Henty community.
