Hot and windy conditions forecast for Wednesday has led to the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) to declare a total fire ban in the northern Riverina.
The northern Riverina RFS region, which covers Carrathool, Griffith, Leeton, Hay, Murrumbidgee and Narrandera shires, is currently under a severe fire danger rating.
The fire ban came into effect at midnight on Tuesday, and farmers have been warned that stop harvest requests may be issued if conditions.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting winds east to northeasterly to 20 km/h shifting westerly to 45km/h in the morning.
Daytime maximum temperatures are expected to reach the low to mid-30s before chances of a thunderstorm later in the afternoon and evening.
