PLANS are well under way for Henty to host next year’s Australia Day ceremony. Henty’s Community Development Committee are partnering with Henty Rotary Club and others to ensure there is entertainment and food for all ages. There will be another skateboard school held after the formalities for those wishing to improve their skills.
HENTY Public School students Heidi Martin, Georgia Scholz, Henry Kilo and Saige Fraser are revamping the school garden. The school has received many donations of materials, including two new vegetable beds. The garden has been weeded and planting has started. Good weather will allow the children to have the bed completed by the end of the school year.
HENTY & District Lifestyle Centre has had two split system air conditioners installed in the Historic Society Room and also one in the upstairs room. The upstairs room is undergoing a makeover with most of the original wall render being removed and replaced. The floor will most probably be cleaned of all the old carpet nails and be left bare. A little electrical updating and the room will be made available to local art and craft groups.
THE Henty Tidy Towns Committee has the approval of the Greater Hume Shire Council to locate outdoor exercise equipment in the Henty Memorial Park.
Henty Catering Committee has contributed $6000, Henty Tidy Towns $7000, Henty 125th Anniversary Committee $4000 and the Henty Community Bank is prepared to match a grant of $4000 from the annual shire grants.
Including the grant, this totals $25,000 and the equipment may be in place by the end of December.
