LAST Friday was the first of our twilight golf evenings. There were a few seasoned golfers as well as new ones. Some played nine holes and some just a couple, but all agreed it was a great evening. Cameron Wood finished the winner in the comp with 41 off the stick, net 27 – an excellent score.
All golfers are welcome to come and play on Friday from 5pm. You are given a handicap for the comp, which will increase or decrease depending on your weekly score against other golfers. Just beginning and don’t want to play in the comp, but just have a hit around? That’s OK, you can do that instead!

ON SUNDAY we had our closing day of the winter golf season with a two person ambrose. Thanks go to Trevor and Janice Smith who have donated a perpetual trophy for this event, this being the first time it has been played for and the winners were Brendan Sheather and Cameron Wood with net score of 62.75. Runners up were Roger and Tom Russell with 64 nett.
There were five ambrose groups and three singles playing. It was a little damp in the middle of the game, then cleared up. Nearest the pin on third was Cameron and on ninth was Noel Stewart.
Presentation of the TJ & M Smith trophy was given to Cameron and Brendan, and Cameron also was presented with the Match Play trophy for 2016. He only started playing golf this year and has had a great year. Michael Roberts won the Eclectic trophy but was away playing Pennant for Culcairn. They played Thurgoona at Howlong, but at this time the end result is not known.
