THE Albury and District Bowling Association is playing in the annual Zone 8 (Riverina) president's cup at Wagga this weekend.
Albury is the defending titleholder after claiming the event on its home greens last year.
The event alternates with the venue each year and is for players who compete in grades five, six and seven pennant.
The format is similar to the annual Bing Wallder Shield for representatives from the six districts in Zone 8 and is held each November.
The president's cup started six years ago and Wagga is the last district to host it.
A rotation of venues will start again next year with the event going back to the Southern Highlands most likely at Tumut.
Albury selectors met recently to name their team for games at Wagga RSL and Wagga RAFC.
Three games will be played on Saturday and a further two on Sunday.
Albury play Southern Highlands, South West and Wagga on Saturday.
The team is Bruce Barber (Culcairn), Ken Freeman (Culcairn), Des Keenan (Holbrook), John Harrison (Holbrook) skip; Phil Hutchinson (North Albury), Mike Smith (Commercial), Mark Adams (North Albury), Bill Jones (North Albury) skip; Ray Moore (Culcairn), Noel Wilksch (Walla), John Edwards (Howlong), Ron Bonat (Oaklands) skip; Peter Browning (Rand), Ted Meiers (Commercial), Keith Truin (Howlong), Ross Nixon (Rand) skip; Des Klinberg (Lavington), Darryl Coventry (North Albury), Mick Dunnett (Urana) and Neville Wegener (North Albury).
