Attracting tourists to The Rock is an ongoing passion for councillor Gail Driscoll who is heading the next project in town.
The track from town to The Rock Hill entrance is set to be sealed this financial year.
As a regular users of the track, Cr Driscoll raised the idea to have it sealed at council.
Currently the track is sealed from town to the railway crossing near the showgrounds but from there it is an unsealed sand track to the entrance.
About three kilometres will be sealed giving tourists the chance to walk out to the hill in any conditions or ride bikes, scooters or skateboards.
“Hopefully we can get people parking in the main street and walking there,” Cr Driscoll said.
Cr Driscoll hopes hire bikes can be added to the centre of town, similar to those in Sydney and Melbourne, giving people the chance to ride out to the hill.
The project will be funded by Lockhart Shire Council and grants.
