Two Henty ladies have been recognised for their long running dedication to the Red Cross.
Sisters, Margaret and Jean Bennett have been working with the organisation for 60 years, after joining when they were teenagers.
Their motivation to get involved came from their parents who had been both been involved with the Red Cross “from the start.”
The sisters would help their parents with Red Cross events as children and never stopped.
“When we got older mum said, you have to pay your own membership, I still have that receipt,” Jean said.
The pair joined up the same time and were awarded for 60 years or service together.
“I am so pleased,” Jean said.
“There are not that many people who have been there that long.
“It is nice to be recognised for something you do.”
Being a member of the Red Cross has enabled the sisters to help people and raise money.
“It’s always a good thing to do things for other people and not just yourself all the time,” she said.
