Henty will be home to the largest outdoor and adventure expo in regional Australia.
The Henty 4WD and Outdoor Adventure Expo will utilise the Henty Machinery Field Days (HMFD) site to host the event over three days.
From March 10 to 12 the site will be transformed into a campers paradise with more than 200 exhibitors expected.
Expo director Paul Morgan wants the event to support the local community and hopes local ground will still provide catering.
“We want to work with the field days team and the local community to keep the good honest community feel at the event,” he said.
“It is important to keep community values in shows.”
Mr Morgan wants to make the Henty 4WD and Outdoor Adventure Expo an annual event for years to come.
“I want the event to still be running in 10 years time,” he said.
“I want people to mark it on their calendars every year.”
The weekend in March was selected because it is a long weekend in Victoria and before Easter.
This will be the first regional event organised by Mr Morgan for Explore Australia Expo.
“We will use the same model as our metro events but make it bigger,” he said.
The extensive infrastructure at the was the field days ran was enough to convince Mr Morgan that the site was ideal.
“I made the decision when I saw the field days in action,” he said.
“The site was just crying out for another event.”
Due to the large size of the venue the event will be able to offer two four-wheel driving tracks.
One of the tracks will give people the chance to drive a car on the track and other an action adventure display track.
“We will have a purpose built track for people to try vehicles,” he said.
“The size of the area is axactly what we needed for the event we want to create.”
The event will not just feature vehicles and camping gear but also fishing, cooking and possibly hunting.
