The Henty Historical Society is tackling what it believes to be a world first.
The group is putting together a book focusing on the town’s contribution to World War I.
“There are lots of books about World War I and the soldiers, but we believe this is the first book to focus on an entire community's involvement,” Henty Historical Society member John Ebsworth said.
The book titled The Henty Honour Roll WWI, covers a range of stories from the soldiers who enlisted to the people and groups who helped from home.
Members of the society have been researching for the book for almost two years and expect it to be around 500 pages in size.
Genealogist Ken Shiels stepped up to compile the book and help fill gaps in the research.
The book is expected to be published at the end of the year as a hardcover and DVD. An online version is expected to be complete around Anzac Day next year.
