Yerong Creek lost a “massive part” of the town when Alan ‘Phantom’ Curtis died.
He lived in Yerong Creek almost his entire life until about five years ago when he moved to Queensland.
Wool classing was his passion and he worked until he was 84-years-old.
“He practised for the longest period for any woolclasser,” his son Roger Curtis said.
He earned the nickname ‘Phantom’ because he travelled around the country with the shearing run.
His funeral will be held at 10am at the Yerong Creek cemetery and a gathering will be held afterwards at the Yerong Creek Bowling Club.
Mr Curtis was a loved husband of Gloria, father and father-in-law of Roger and Jan, Lloyd and Sandy, Fred and Dianne, Alan, Louise, grandfather of Purdey, Martin, Brad, Elise, Jarrod and Gemma and brother and brother-in-law of Claire Gould, Marg and Garry Pryce.
