Josh Meiselbach will play his first senior game of the year after being given a late call-up for The Rock-Yerong Creek against North Wagga.
The enigmatic ruckman looms as a key plank in the Pies’ premiership defence, following the off-season departure of Scott Higgins.
Meiselbach replaces Tim Hahn in a side which, according to co-coach Andy Carey, showed signs against Marrar last week that it’s just hitting its straps.
“I thought that was the best game we played all year, just the way we moved the ball and how we wanted to set up,” Carey said.
North Wagga could be forgiven for having nightmares about the game given Carey kicked 10 goals last time they met, singlehandedly outscoring the Saints in last year’s qualifying final.
But Carey isn’t anticipating a repeat.
“I don’t know how I’ll go this week, we’re supposed to get a fair bit of rain,” he said.
“It might end up being a close contest – it might be who handles the wet better I think.”
