Henty netballers had a new spring in their step at the weekend with their first outing on the new netball courts.
The $40,000 courts were opened on Saturday, the culmination of many months of hard work.
The club raised the money over the last 10 years by putting money into a term deposit.. The Henty Community Bank donated $15,000 towards the upgrade with the balance covered by the club’s savings.
President of Henty Netball Club, Tania Wettern, was thrilled to see the courts upgraded.
“It’s exciting. The new courts are a lot nicer on the body, it is a bit more giving on the joints,” she said.
The old courts were dangerous to play on. Money raised from the catering section at the Henty Machinery Field Days will be used to purchase training equipment for more than 120 registered players.
“We have a huge number of players, probably the most we’ve ever had,” she said.
The club is looking to upgrade the shelters and storage sheds at the end of the season.
