The Rock-Yerong Creek are keeping their eyes open for a ruckman after the departure of rising star Scott Higgins.
The teenager from West Wyalong has his heart set on joining on the army and has let the club know that he won’t be back in 2016.
“It’s a massive loss,” co-coach Andrew Clarke said.
The ruck duties will fall to the experienced Josh Meiselbach who was often used at centre-half-back last season.
Clarke said the Pies would ideally find a replacement for Higgins but at this stage of the recruiting cycle they’re likely to end up relying on their current list.
“Maybe Timmy Hahn or Lukey Hillier will have to step up and pinch hit from time to time,” he said.
Higgins didn’t have the profile of some of his fellow Farrer League ruckmen but earned high praise from former coach David Pieper for his efforts particularly when Meiselbach was unavailable in the middle of the season.
TRYC kick off their season against East Wagga-Kooringal at Victoria Park on April 9.
