Fifteen passionate Lockhart Shire locals are joining forces in a bid to fight the proposed merger with Urana and Corowa.
The Community Steering Committee is made up of members of the public.
Members were appointed by council with the first meeting on Thursday night.
The committee will work closely with council to fight the proposed merger.
Members will now work to encourage other members of the community to put in a submission and explain to people the importance of doing so.
Written submissions can be made online at the Council Boundary website or by mail to GPO Box 5341 Sydney NSW 2001.
Submissions close on Sunday February 28 at 5pm.
Members of the public are also encouraged to attend the public enquiry to be held on the February 4 at the Lockhart Ex-Servicemens club from 7pm to 10pm.
To attend or speak at the meeting register online at the Council Boundary website or phone 1300 813 020.
