Emergency vehicles are on the scene approximately two kilometres south of Holbrook.
Inspector Ben Shepherd, from the Rural Fire Service, said emergency services were notified of the incident just after 5am and they arrived on scene to find a truck with its back trailer alight.
“Reports are it’s a load of chickens,” he said.
“One Fire and Rescue truck and three Rural Fire Service are onsite.
“They have attempted to detach the prime mover.”
Inspector Ben Shepherd said motorists should be aware there will be delays as one of two southbound lanes have been closed.
“Drive to the conditions and exercise caution,” he said.
