The money was made available through the Greater Hume Shire Council’s Community Development Program.
A total of $40,000 has been awarded to 14 community groups as part of Greater Hume Council’s 2017-2018 Community Development Grant Program. Following consideration by the Grants Committee, the recommendations were signed off at Council’s meeting held last week.
Grants funding was awarded to:
- The Burrumbuttock Public Hall for air conditioning, $4000
- Holbrook Australian Rules Football Club, replacement of hot water services $3000
- Holbrook Adult Riding Club, equipment trailer $3750
- Jindera Community Forum 150th Celebration heritage plaques $3000
- Gerogery Horse Sports Committee, connection of electricity $4000
- Holbrook Amateur Swimming Club, lane ropes and storage reels $3750
- Holbrook Equine Centre, portable toilets $2750
- Jindera Country Golf Club, renewal of synthetic grass on greens $2000
- Henty Park Tennis Club (dependent on the club receiving another grant) lighting $2200
- Holbrook Early Learning Centre, playground synthetic grass $2000
- Holbrook Community Gym, flooring $2800
- Jindera Tennis Club (this group was successful in 2016/2017) court upgrade $3000
- Culcairn Bowling and Rec Club, children’s play area $2000
- Gerogery Fire Brigade (dependent on brigade providing the matching funding) canopy for ute $1750
“Council recognises the hard working pool of volunteers across the shire make a vital contribution across a range of facilities and activities. Many volunteers help Council maintain public infrastructure like halls, parks, tennis courts and recreation reserves which provide many opportunities for community wellbeing and connectedness” said Mayor, Heather Wilton.
