ON SEPTEMBER 10, around 200 people attended a commemoration at St Paul's church, of the Lutheran Reformation 500 years ago. Most attended the service led by Rev Dr Dean Zweck of Adelaide, emeritus professor of church history. Many returned for the film Martin Luther in the afternoon and to the choral, organ, singing and information evening, when Dr Zweck's address, "Reformation 500 years on - from conflict to reconciliation" explained the progress made, especially in later years, of reconciliation between denominations. The evening was enhanced with favourite hymns and choir items and the "virtual " playing of pipe organs from Poland and Holland, on the Allen computer organ.

FOR those wishing to have a garage stall, you have less than three weeks to register. See Ken Dale. Also, if you have old photos of Henty Central/Primary school, these might be of interest for the forthcoming 125th celebrations. Please contact the school describing what you have to offer.

SOME clean-up of the Henty Government Dam Reserve site is being undertaken by a number of groups and individuals. Fence maintenance, walking track clearing and another crash grazing event, to control weeds and excessive grass are some activities. The grazing will substantially reduce any chance of a grass fire.

HENTY Men’s Shed members are refurbishing 16 chests of drawers for the Hospital Auxiliary. As previously mentioned, the members have been travelling about of late and their eyes are now focused on the Corowa Distillery. The whisky and chocolate has certain attraction for the palate. Let’s hope the eyes are just as focused on the return journey.
