The writings, research, designs and models of Leonardo da Vinci achieved 500 years ago are stunning. A party of 11 from the Henty Men's Shed went to Temora on Saturday to stand in awe of Da Vinci's thought processes, which started the development of so many of the world's modern machines. He researched the principles of geology 300 years before it was recognised as a science.
Da Vinci renowned as an artist and sculptor, researched human anatomy, studied the marine world and designed machines whose principles are used everywhere today.
Appropriately, models of his machines are on exhibition at the Temora Aviation Museum, alongside more modern flying machines.
The folk at the Henty Men's Shed will look at the machines in their workshop with new understanding and respect for the man who started the development of so many of them.
