We have a Bunnings barbecue coming up in November. An invitation was received to participate in The Rock’s Annual Show, and also to attend their 70th birthday celebrations.
Final wording was sorted for our Motion for Conference regarding inequalities in Teaching Awards.
Our branch had a CWA Awareness Day table in Thurgoona Plaza, handing out leaflets and talking to people.
Several members are making sandwiches and slices for the Field Days.
Bev Frohling reported that she’d tried the cough medicine recipe in the journal and found it successful – honey and onions! Peel and roughly chop one onion, place in bowl and cover with runny honey. Place in warm room for six to eight hours. Strain the onion from the syrup. Adults – one tablespoon every two hours.
In the Land Cookery, we had the Donna Latter Cake, with Lyn Jacobsen first, Eunice Mcrae 2nd and Margaret H 3rd. The gluten free lamington dingers was won by Margaret Hasler. Next month, it’s jams and pickles – rhubarb and ginger jam, orange marmalade, and piccalilli pickles in mustard brine. All must be in 500g jars.
Our Group Conference is to be held at Ganmain on 11th October, and some members plan to attend. The next meeting with be our annual meeting, and will be held in Albury at the Commercial Club on 18th October at 10.30am.
At the Field Days on Tuesday, our DJ in Country Lifestyle, Steve Bowen, was presented with an Honorary Membership of the CWA. Steve is always willing to help when needed and is a great help to us all.
Bev Frohling once again did a wonderful job decorating the stage with natural fibres – she even had a couple of alpaca fleeces this year as well as the woollen ones. As this was her last year doing this job, we thank her for all her hard work over the years. A big thank you also to all the members and friends who helped in numerous ways at the Henty Field Days
