On September 6 a property at The Rock in southern NSW will host the launch of an event known as Taste Riverina.
The Marrocka Emu Farm on the north side of The Rock on the Olympic Highway is also home to Ian Marston who is a councillor on Lockhart Shire.
Cr Marston said the fact Lockhart Shire, and The Rock, were hosting the launch was a coup for the eastern Riverina.
The significance of the event – and the fact that Lockhart Shire was hosting the launch – was raised and noted during the Lockhart Shire Council meeting.
Cr Marston said the Riverina was a beautiful region that boasted diverse produce.
An area of “Marrocka”, provides the perfect backdrop across the Olympic Highway with a view of The Rock in the background.
It will be this picturesque setting that sets the tone as the venue during the launch.
“It is a great opportunity to promote the area and Lockhart Shire,” he said.
Cr Marston was expecting about 100 or so people to attend the launch.
The Marrocka Emu Farm is responsible for growing out emus which are ultimately used for oil.
During his visit to southern NSW presenter Mike Whitney said he absolutely loved the region and the people he’d met here.
“In all that time we still haven’t run out of things to shoot!” Mr Whitney said.
“This time we did the cultural tour with Mark Saddler, a local Wiradjuri historian, visited The Rock and the Emu Farm and looked at the scar trees.
“Sydney Weekender’s support for regional NSW is second to none and coming back to Wagga can only benefit the city.”
The Taste Riverina Festival runs from October 1 to 31.
The Festival committee is made up of representatives from Thrive Riverina, RDA Riverina, TAFE NSW as well as local food and beverage industry champions and member council representatives.
The festival is a month-long ‘menu of events’ during October each year, celebrating the harvest, showcasing food, wine, beer and agricultural produce and experiences across the Riverina.
