It is also home to the successful three-day Henty Machinery Field Days which run in September. But aside from the agricultural roots this town has some talented artists, hard working volunteers and clever cooks. It is also the main thoroughfare between Wagga and Albury. Margaret Knobel took the Eastern Riverina Chronicle inside the popular Doodle Cooma Craft Shop which is just off the Olympic Highway.
She explained how important the highway is in terms of attracting business and visitors to the town. In fact nearly all of the visitors to the Doodle Cooma Craft Shop are travelers from the Olympic Highway. Mrs Knobel said the shop was established in 2001 and drew on handmade preserves from members of the local community. “We have everything from knitting to sewing, pottery and ceramics,” she said.
