Our Group International Officer, Gillian De Luca, joined us along with her daughter Wendy who was our guest speaker, and some friends.
The lunch consisted of several Nepalese dishes which our members had cooked for the occasion.
Later Wendy, who has been to Nepal on several occasions, spoke to the children and guests about the lifestyle in Nepal, and had several artefacts to share.
The children had also done some power point presentations on Nepal, so they in turn showed us these.
Prior to lunch, we held our August meeting, and again were very generous with our allocation of funds to the various CWA projects.
The president discussed the survey, which was included with the June Journal, and members were encouraged to do the survey and get it back to head office by the end of the month.
Anyone who had photos suitable for the cultural competition – “Local Tradesman” or “Washing Day” were asked to get them to the Cultural Officer, Elaine Armstrong, so they could be included in the display at Cultural Day in Wagga on August 28.
Some members hope to attend cultural day.
Lyn Jacobsen has been elected to the Sydney Show Catering Committee for the next year.
The branch was asked if they could make some material bags to sell at the field days, which could be used to decorate the walls prior to being sold.
We are working on a resolution for conference regarding teacher’s inequities in both wages and recognition of years teaching experience for teachers with the same university degrees when teaching in different areas of children’s education.
The Henty Field Days are getting close and members were asked for help with cooking slices, making sandwiches and working at the Field Days.
