THE annual Lutheran Ladies casserole luncheon held on Sunday, July 23, was once again well supported by Henty’s church groups and its local community. All those that supplied the variety of casseroles and delicious sweets to satisfy the 100+ that attended are thanked for their respective efforts and contributions.

As a result of the community’s support, donations of $400 were each given to the Cancer Centre and Motor Neurone Disease; $500 will be donated to Australian Lutheran World Service who assist people in poorer countries to become more self-sufficient and capable of supporting themselves with food and acquisition of animals.
The Temora Open Door Bookshop was also in attendance displaying Christian books, cards and gifts.

DOODLE Cooma Swamp open day will take place on Friday, September, 1. The NSW Government, Murray Darling Wetlands Group, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Australian Government invite all interested people to join in the official opening and tree planting at 11am at the Doodle Cooma Swamp. Time is 11am to 1pm, with a lunch at 12.30pm.
To enter the reserve, take the Henty – Walla Road, then Diffey’s Lane and entering the reserve on Listers Lane; 6kms south-west from Henty. Here you will discover the newly installed visitor facilities: bird hides and interpretive signs; hear about the significance of the swamp; learn about wetlands in the local area, their importance for biodiversity and carbon storage.
