Strong declared he is in the best form of his career as he took off to the US as he prepares to fight to defend his title in the Moto X Best Trick competition, an event he holds three consecutive gold medals in.
The 25-year-old recently broke his wrist while filming for the X Games Real Moto, an all-video moto contest where the world’s best riders and filmers create video content and submit it as part of the World of X Games – Real Series.
While Strong is disappointed the injury will rule him out of the Moto X Freestyle competition this year, he won’t let it ruin his chances of taking home a fourth straight Best Trick title.
“I’m still going to send it to the roof at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis for Best Trick,” Strong said.
“I only need to do the one jump in Best Trick, and then can let my wrist heal after that.”
The X Games, being held in Minneapolis, will start on Thursday and goes through until Sunday.
Strong literally cheated death at last year’s X Games, after coming off his bike during the Moto X Quaterpipe competition.
He was then airlifted from the Austin hospital back to the venue just in time to compete and win the Moto X Best Trick, by landing arguably the most dangerous stunt in the sport – the frontflip.
