Jordan Laurence Harrington, 22, wanted to go toe to toe with a police officer in Wilson Street in March 2015 after being caught urinating.
The Lockhart and former North Albury player became aggressive with officers as they spoke to his friends and swore at them.
Despite attempts by his mates to drag him away, Harrington surged towards an officer, swore in his face and lined him up, and was eventually capsicum sprayed.
He had been drinking cans for most of the day.
The incident, which was recently heard in Albury Local Court, was followed by a king hit on a man at a Wagga nightclub last November.
The court heard he’d had three offences in three years related to alcohol, and he was sentenced to a seven-month intensive corrections order as an alternative to jail.
